2022：NEW ITEM AERO-R2

Kabuto will release the AERO-R2 and AERO-R2TR, the aero road models, which inherit the genes of the truck aero helmet.

The former model AERO-R1 debuted in 2017 as an aero road helmet with a short tail and high aerodynamic performance. Through repeated data analysis and wind tunnel testing, the AERO-R2 aims to further improve aerodynamic characteristics while maintaining the basic form that reduces aerodynamic drag not only when riding straight ahead, but also in crosswinds and when looking backward.
The most distinctive feature is the "Air Tunnel Structure (PAT.P)" in the center of the helmet. Air passes through the air tunnel, which consists of an air hole placed straight through the helmet from the center of the frontal area and an "air path plate" installed inside the helmet. The air that enters the helmet is channeled backward while being regulated, and aerodynamic performance is improved by suppressing air resistance.

Air holes and air routes have been optimized to improve ventilation performance for comfort. The interior is made of COOLMAX® material, which absorbs water and dries quickly, and the chinstrap features MOFF® deodorant fiber and water repellency, as well as KBF-2 adjusters with the Boa® fit system for a precise fit.
The AERO-R2 is equipped with a new "anti-slip buckle" locking mechanism that prevents the chinstrap from loosening compared to conventional buckles, while the AERO-R2TR is equipped with a "magnetic buckle" for fast and secure attachment and removal.

The AERO-R2TR has evolved into an aero road helmet with aerodynamic performance cultivated in the world of track competitions where 0.01 seconds is at stake, and comfort that allows the rider to concentrate on racing even in the toughest road races.

Functions & Technology

●Air Tunnel Structure (PAT.P)" to improve aerodynamic performance by air rectification

A revolutionary patented structure that stabilizes aerodynamic performance while suppressing unnecessary drag by adjusting air turbulence generated in the air route and channeling it backward. The air pass plate can be attached or detached as desired depending on the application.

●Aerodynamic performance thoroughly pursued and proven through CFD analysis and wind tunnel testing

The shell design was determined based on data analysis and wind tunnel testing conducted during the development of aero helmets used in track competitions. The narrowed shape reduces aerodynamic drag not only when going straight, but also in crosswinds and when looking backward.

★Comparative verification of "aerodynamic performance" and "air permeability" with AERO-R1 through in-house wind tunnel testing

Aerodynamics: Comparison based on AERO-R1, assuming the required power output values when riding at 40 km/h in a typical riding position.
Breathability: Helmet is placed on a human head model heated to 42°C, wind is applied at 40 km/h, and the time required for the frontal area to cool down to 35°C is compared.

Aerodynamics: AERO-R2 achieves -2W without plates and -4W with plates compared to AERO-R1.
Air permeability: Temperature drops 3.8% faster with AERO-R2 without plates and 1.5% faster with plates compared to AERO-R1.

The characteristics can be changed according to the situation by installing the air pass plate when aerodynamic performance is important and removing the air pass plate when ventilation performance is important.

●KBF-2" adjuster with Boa® fit system

Realizes fine adjustment and uniform tightening. A large-diameter dial with a good finger-hold enables instantaneous one-handed adjustment.

●Adoption of a new headrest mechanism with two-stage adjustment to both sides

The width of the headrest section can be adjusted in two steps. Adjustment is possible according to not only the degree of tightness but also the shape of the back of the head, which varies greatly from person to person.

●"Wake Stabilizer (PAT.) --Patented aerodynamic device

Achieves aerodynamic drag equivalent to that of a long tail while having a short tail. Aerodynamic device developed by our company for motorcycle helmets.

●Equipped with a shield which prevent interference with eyeglasses

The shield designed to prevent interference with eyeglasses is attached with a magnet for easy attachment and removal, and is equipped as standard. Depending on the shape of the glasses, it may not be usable.

●COOLMAX® that assists in maximizing air-cooling effect

Air-cooling performance is assisted by COOLMAX®, which quickly evaporates perspiration to keep you dry and comfortable.

●Includes Ultra Sweatpad-03

Sweatpad with floating structure. Efficiently directs sweat to the left and right sides of the forehead.

●Includes eyewear hold design and non-slip rubber-02

Easy-to-hold shape and non-slip rubber keep eyewear firmly in place.
